Because of studying in a small town, Ritesh does not get the facilities to learn coding – hacking, he gets his friends studying in Mumbai. But with the help of Hacker Earth, this difficulty of Ritesh has reduced somewhat. Hacker Earth is a free platform from which Ritesh learned all the skills of hacking online. Not only this, now he also teaches other college students hacking tricks.

Ritesh has so far made more than 400 students a part of his coding club. Along with coding, it also prepares club students for jobs. Hacker also provides the latest software and resources for all this. Started in 2012, Hacker Earth teaches coding to more than 7 lakh students in 200 colleges in India and that too for free. Interestingly, about 70 percent of these students are from Tier-2 and Tier-3 colleges. The company’s founders are two friends studying at IITs – Vivek Prakash and Sachin Gupta. Both say that there is no shortage of coding talent in India, but the right resources and platform are needed.

Through online classes, Code Monk, Hacker Earth teaches high level coding to students in any corner of the country. Coders from around the world participate in its online challenges. Not only this, Hacker Earth also keeps live podcasts and workshops in its Bangalore office every month. So far, the company has organized more than 1000 such programs and challenges.

Till now, companies like Oracle and Google in India used to hire coders only with big name collages like IITs. But what about the talent who is studying in a less well-known college? Hacker Earth is working with the goal of changing this pattern. So far 2500 large companies are associated with Hacker Earth. All these companies test the applicants directly through online tests.

Nearly 1 out of every 5 programmer applicant gets hired. 27 percent from Tier-1 colleges, 32 percent of Tier-2 colleges and 41 percent from Tier-3 colleges. You can see that many programmers have been defeated by Tier-2 and Tier-3 colleges. This makes it strong that good programmers can be from any college.

So far 20 percent of the 25,000 candidates have got good jobs through Hacker Earth. Everyone says that without the recruitment platform of Hacker Earth, it would have been impossible to get the placement in such a short time. But Hacker Earth is not just a recruitment platform but an emerging developer community. A community that is giving young programmers a chance to shine their skills. The company has so far received venture capital funding of Rs 3 crore 72 lakh. With this money, the company is going to conduct the country’s largest hackathon in January. Young developers rarely get a better chance to shine their skills.
